The best hospitals in Mexico
for your low-cost surgery.

hospitals in mexico

In this section of the site, I’m going to explain which hospitals in Mexico are the best. At the same time, I’m going to give you advice worth taking when you make your decision because it could help you generate an EXTRA 15-20% in savings—on top of the savings you’d obtain by choosing to have your surgery in Mexico.

Based on my point of view and experience, the best hospitals in Mexico, which are at the same level as hospitals in the United States, are found only in the three largest cities in Mexico, which is no surprise since most industries are centralized in these cities:

Mexico City

Guadalajara

Monterrey

These three cities undoubtedly are home to the leading hospitals that Mexico has available for your needs. They’re equipped with the latest technology, the most qualified surgeons in all of Mexico, and the tourist infrastructure required to make your medical trip a complete success.

Earlier I promised you some special advice that can help you generate another 15–20% in savings, so here it is:

In the three biggest cities, you’ll find several hospitals all at the same high level—the level that’s advisable for you— but for a variety of reasons it turns out that the lowest overall medical costs of the three can be found in the city of Guadalajara.

That means, for the same services, quality and safety, you’ll most certainly find more competitive prices (15–20% less) in Guadalajara than in the other two cities.

Now, to be clear, I’m going to give you my point of view about the three cities:

Mexico City has the largest hospitals in Mexico, but bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better. And the reason is obvious since it’s one of the most populated metropolises in the world.

My opinion: way too problematic and big, which could detract from your general comfort level in during the trip.

Monterrey is a very good choice since many of the best hospitals in Mexico are located there, it’s very close to the U.S. border (near the Gulf of Mexico) and its tourist infrastructure is top notch.

Guadalajara also has the best that Mexico can offer in terms of hospitals and, as I’ve already mentioned, its costs in general are lower than in the other two cities.

Its only apparent disadvantage is that it’s a little farther south than Monterrey, but were talking 1 ½ hours more by plane (depending on what part of the United States you’re coming from, the additional flying time could actually be less than that.)

So, at this point, it might seem that in choosing the best place for your surgery in Mexico you’d have to pick between Monterrey, a city a little closer but with prices relatively higher, and Guadalajara, a city a little farther south but with the appeal of additional savings.

Other options for hospitals in Mexico:

Another option, which I don’t feel ready to recommend at the moment, are the Mexican hospitals found in popular beach destinations such as Cancun, Puerto Vallarta or Los Cabos, to name a few.

My opinion of this option is limited and I consider it less safe for two main reasons:

The best surgeons in Mexico work in the hospitals in Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara, for reasons that are clear.

The medical infrastructure in a large city guarantees the necessary resources in case of an emergency (for example, blood banks, donors, complex diagnostic technology, etc.) and small cities simply don’t have them.

In short, when looking for a hospital in Mexico, I recommend that your most important criteria be your safety and satisfaction above any recreation aspects.

Throughout this site I advise you to get as much information as possible before making your decision, but above all I want you to avoid being oversold on a concept that puts your health at risk.

Lastly, I want to present to you the list of the best hospitals in the three biggest cities:

Guadalajara:
Hospital Real San Jose
Hospital Puerta de Hierro
Hospital San Javier
Hospital Angeles del Carmen

Monterrey:
Hospital Christus Muguerza
Hospital Santa Engracia
Hospital Sierra Madre
Hospital San Jose

Mexico City:
Centro Médico ABC Sante Fe
Hospital ABC
Hospital Angeles
Clínica Lomas Altas

Out of all the hospitals listed above, which is the best hospital in Mexico?

The truth is that question is not really important since all the hospitals listed offer you the same quality, safety and services.

As a result, I think the best hospital for you in Mexico is the one that offers you the best prices and proximity.

Remember: these are the hospitals where you are guaranteed the same medical technology you would find in any hospital in the United States. I want to recommend that you compare prices in these three cities because I’m sure you’re going to find more savings and the same quality of service in Guadalajara.

Moreover, additional costs for hotels, meals and transportation are lower in Guadalajara than the other two cities.

Additionally, I recommend that you go to the other section on hospitals in Mexico, where the classification of hospitals in Mexico is explained in more detail.
